"Just
wanted to say a HUGE thank you for the organisation, support, love, &

Dear Brothers and Sisters
Shri Babaji and Shri Muniraj Maharaj
are inviting you all to participate in the Navaratri celebrations in Haidakhan.

health. She is the sustainer of the universe and prayers to her bring
immediate results.
This Spiritual Quest will be facilitated by Pauline Win and Peter Bell.
Between them, Pauline and Peter have made at least 30 visits to Indian Ashrams
since the early 70’s and have the experience of organizing many groups with
participants from all over the world. They have also been volunteers in Nepal
where they lived with a local family and worked for 6 months. Pauline is the
author of the book "Overcoming The 7 Inhibitors To Bliss," an
excellent manual and workbook on Rebirthing/Breathwork and Leonard Orr’s 8
"biggies."

Thus
Babaji Spoke
"If
you are in peace, I am in peace
If
you are troubled, I am troubled."
"If

Rise before sunrise & bathe, either shower or more preferably the Gautama
Ganga River – the source of the Ganges. This river is reported to heal &
soothe the soul of those bathing in it to wash away karma.
Then Chandan – A special paste is applied to the forehead to induce a
"mindless state" which allows deep levels of mind relaxation and
meditation.
Each morning will be a meeting/sharing with Pauline & Peter
Next is Aarti – ceremonial chanting, which is followed by Ceremonies,
devoted to the Divine Mother – in the form of Parvati, Shakti, Durgi, etc. The
feminine counterparts of Brahman, Vishnu & Shiva. Later in the morning the
big Fire Ceremony then lunch.
During the afternoon a special English translation of the Shrimit Devi
Bhagavartim – the Divine Mother Verses – and various ceremonies by the yogis
take place.
Bathing again before Aarti, which is held around sunset.
Aarti – Chanting lasting around an hour. Very ceremonial and grounding.
With special music & often spontaneous dancing & clapping. A very joyous
end to the day. These are busy days and all worth the energy expended as it is
returned 10 fold when you return to the West.
Intertwined between the ceremonies we will have regular sharings, and other
activities. We will make time to visit the nine temples over the other side of
the river, to meditate in Shri Baba’s Cave, and for those who choose, to trek
up Kumaon Kailash Mountain, where Babaji meditated for 45 days without moving
after manifesting his body in the cave.
Karma Yoga – A lot of maintenance is required to keep the Ashram clean and
looking good. Different tasks may be allocated on a voluntary basis. Jobs will
include making the flower leis, gardening, cleaning duties, etc. Karma Yoga is
an essential part of Spiritual Growth and everyone attending the Ashram is
expected to participate. Karma Yoga is often kept to minimum levels during the
Navaratri celebrations.
This is an amazing spiritual and eye opening journey and your Mind will never
be the same, having opened up areas of the Brain due to the energy of the
Navaratrims and Yogic principles underpinning Navaratri.
You can also have Mundun (Head Shaving), and special Indian Healings.

Things
Recommended to Take and Other Logistics
Exercise book & pen for journal/diary/notes
Padlock - preferably combination for dormitory door.
Soft bags rather than suitcases as the luggage usually needs to be
carried a short distance to the Ashram. It can be a good idea to have the
bags secured with a small padlock if possible. (Porters will be available)
A day pack (small backpack) for carrying drink bottle, snacks, etc.
Snacks for the bus journeys.
A good sleeping bag with inner liner – it can get quite cool at night
Pillow & pillow cases for comfort in bed.
Warm underclothing
Warm jersey, (pullover, sweater)
Good torch & spare batteries
Candles (can be purchased at Ashram) & a candle holder for safety.
(Remember, good Ausy standard candles burn longer. 1 packet of 6 is enough.)
Adapter for electrical power if required (Power is 240 V)
Good walking shoes or boots. – for climbing Mt Kailash, etc.
Old sneakers or suitable footwear for crossing river. The river is
usually not high at this time and crossings are usually by log bridges.
Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, moisturiser
Money belt for inside clothes for carrying documents and money. The
hotels and Ashram have safes and it is a good idea to make use of these.
Swimwear for bathing in river – Ladies – one piece only and old T
shirt & loose board shorts or long loose dress (for over togs). Men –
ordinary togs or board shorts are fine.
Loose clothing such as Kaftan to wear to river for bathing. Must cover
body. (Can be purchased in India)
Warm socks in case mornings are cool
A small cushion for sitting on in Temple if desired (& luggage room
allows)
Thongs or sandals for toilets and showers
Vitamins, supplements if you desire. E.g. St Johns Wort & good all
round Multi B supplement
A fork and spoon if you do not desire to eat with fingers. Your own cup
can also be useful for Chai(tea) – metal or plastic.
Towels for Ashram stay. – recommend 3 smaller ones.
Insect repellent
Toilet paper for Ashram.
Small first aid kit (Peter & Pauline will have a first aid kit but
the following could prove handy. Generally Doctors are available during
Navaratri.)
o Anti dihorea tablets
o Rehydration sachets (For making Electrolyte Solution.
Dehydration of the body can be very common in India). In Australia from
chemist
o Panadol or Aspirin
o Bandaids
o Dry antiseptic powder (Optional)
o Safety pins – always handy in Ashram
o Sharp scissors (do not put in hand luggage)
o Bach’s Flowers Rescue Remedy from Health Shop or on-line.
o Constipation liquid or tablets
o Light rope and pegs for making a line to dry towels – we
join it all together for everyones use.
Airline Tickets
Remember to book at least one month before departure date as your travel
agent will need to get you an Indian Visa. (Very important)
If you book on-line, get in touch with your nearest Indian Consul, Sydney,
Melbourne, Brisbane to get your Visa.
All details are on Indian Consul site – its actually easier by far to get a
travel agent to do Visa as its very time consuming and the extra travel agent
cost is minimal by comparison.
Arrival at any time on the 10th is fine – Programme starts on 11th
March. Hotel room is paid for from night of 10th March.
Re travel to Taj, Sai Baba, Dalai Lama, etc.
Best afterwards – the advantage being you are familiar with India. Your
transfer from airport is organised for 10th March only. Transfers
cannot be covered for other days due to logistical reasons. Peter & Pauline
will introduce you to their Indian Travel Agent who will be of tremendous
assistance to get you wherever you want to go or we will show you other agents
near hotel in India. Likewise, transfer will be available from Hotel to airport
on 27th March.
Clothing
Ladies – Delhi is a very "modern" eastern city, so ordinary
western clothing – jeans, tee shirts, ordinary skirts (whatever you normally
wear.) both at Ashram and during travel. I always take at least 4/5 sets of
western clothing for comfortable travel and a few long skirts or dresses for
casual wear in ashram. We only need Punjabi suits (the fancy long top and pants)
for Temple. Basic cost of mens special clothing approx. $50 - $70.
Basic cost of women’s. WELL!! Usually us girls go nuts. Buying all the
gorgeous stuff, basically 3 to 4 pujabis at around $20 - $40 each.will do it.
They can be as low as $10. Punjabis tend to be more expensive if larger size or
if you wish to have them made up. They don’t charge to alter them and that can
be done quite quickly. With the cheaper women’s punjabis you can get away with
around $100 AUD for the 4.
We take a special morning/afternoon to get Punjabi suits and shops are just
outside the Hotel. The shopping area is huge and is where ordinary Indians shop
– so very reasonable (not tourist). We can also go to the tourist markets for
fun.
Warning - On the 10th at arrival, be very careful of tut
tut/taxi drivers offering to take you to see stuff. They whisk you off to their
relatives/friends basement shop and charge the earth for stuff you can get in
street for a lot less. If you wish to go somewhere, go in a group – not alone.
I’m just being a "mummy" because I don’t want you to get fleeced.
PS If you have any nice shawls (woollen) bring 1 or 2 as this will save you
buying them for early morning chanting and chandun (sandlewood paste and kum kum
applied to the forhead for cooloing the mind)
Some nice costume jewellery can be taken with you for dressing up if you
desire.
Men – Casual trousers, shorts and tee shirts can be worn both zt
Ashram and during travel.
For the Ashram we recommend three Punjabi suits and a Lungi (long wrap around
tunic) and a shawl is also handy if it is cool.
Water
Bottled water is recommended for Delhi and while travelling. Be sure to
check the seals are present on the bottles and tight. Safe filtered water
is available at the Ashram as long as power is available and bottled water is
available for purchase.
Money
Money can be changed into Indian currency at the airport if you desire or at
the Hotel, which has a money exchange desk. Money will need to be changed before
leaving for Ashram. Indian currency can now also be purchased prior to arriving
in the country.
Travel Insurance
Always recommended when travelling to third world countries.
Electricity
Power supply is 220 – 240 volt. An adapter will be required to fit into the
sockets. Power supply is not always stable and they can experience long periods
of blackouts.
Weather
It is Spring so it will be generally warm during the day but the nights can
still get quite cool, especially at the Ashram.
Food
The food served at the Ashram is vegetarian and will largely consist of Dahl,
rice and vegetables. We recommend you adjust to these foods (if you aren’t
already) in the weeks prior to the trip. At the Ashram during Navaratri there is
only one meal a day around lunchtime. There are several Chai shops where you can
purchase drinks and snacks if you desire. Food can be taken into India so if you
have favourite snacks, etc. you can take them with you.
Laundry
At the Ashram you will be able to wash clothes yourself or use the services
of the washer person (Dobiman) who you will find very cheap and very efficient.
Immunisations
India does not require travellers to have any immunisations (e.g. Cholera,
smallpox) but check with your own Government as to whether they require you to
have any. Australians are not required to have any immunisations but consult
your own doctor for advice.
And there will be more
Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding any matter you wish to enquire
about or you think should be included in this list.
